where did u place your iPod in your 96-98 civic?

where did u place your iPod in your 96-98 civic?
i just got a iPod and bought the AUX connector so i could put it in my car. i was planning to drill a hole where the OEM slave CD player is supposed to go and run the wire out through there. but for some reason, i can't pull the damn thing out. i unscrewed 1 screw on each side but still can't pull it out. anyone know how the hell to take this out? and do you guys have any other recommendations on where to place my iPod? thanks.
