Default how to quiet down apexi n1?

I want to quiet down my exhaust, but I don't want to get rid of my Apexi N1 cuz I like how it looks (i got that "jdm slant yo!"). Anyways, it sounds real nice and deep, but after 3k its so loud! i feel like it attracts so much attention at times. sometimes, i just wanna drive fast without making all this ruckus. on the highway, it sounds fine. not loud at all. you wouldnt even hear me passing by. however, its when in 1st and 2nd gear that i feel its the loudest.

ive been researching this for a few days now, but couldnt find a clear cut answer. i hear a lot of good things about the rsr ex mag, but again, i dont want to get rid of my N1. i like how it looks and how deep it sounds, but i want to lower the volume.

heres my setup right now: magnaflow catalytic converter, 22 inch (or was it 24 inch?) cherry bomb resonator (i know they have a bad rep for melting), and an apexi n1 muffler w/ silencer on 2.5 inch piping.

from what ive read, maybe getting a better resonator would quiet it down? magnaflow or kteller have been given good reviews. however, people say all the resonator really does is "deepen" the sound of the exhaust and get rid of that "ricer tin car" sound. i like the deep and throaty sound of my n1, but i think the volume is too high.

and no im not a ricer. i want my n1 to keep me awake when im driving, but at the same time i dont want cars alarming when i drive by.

any ideas? thanks.

From what I've heard; the longer and wider resonator you get the quieter the exhaust will be. I have a magnaflow resonator (don't know the length) but my car is really loud because I have a swap. I don't want to get pulled over. What I would recommend is finding a longer resonator or maybe a higher quality one, cherry bombs are notorius for being loud.

i was originally about to go without a resonator about half a year ago when my catalytic converter went bad, but i didn't want it to be crazy loud when everything was welded on (i got fresh new piping at the time as well). so i was like whattha heck, why dont i throw in a cherry bomb resonator (its probably better than nothing?) its super long, 22 or 24 inches long (its supposed to be for suvs or muscle cars i think), and only cost me 15 bucks at pepboys. so yeah, at the time, i bought one cuz i felt like i had nothing to lose.

got one on already. the silencer i noticed doesnt really work much. i only noticed a slight quieter change when on the highway.

I dont think the resonator will do much either, i always thought that it helped more with slightly toning down some of the raspyness.

Get a different muffler...

Also a turbo works as a fairly efficient muffler :D
