my best advice on your paper is to organize your points if you haven't already

No. 1 there are a lot of classes that you can get into in either autocross or road racing and each of those classes will let you know how much money you will need to invest. So choose a class first as a base example for your paper.

No. 2 check out websites like SCCA, Chin Motorsports, autocross.com/evolution, BMW Club of America, Porche Club of America, etc. and download the rulebook to find a class and find the requirements and limitations of being in that class. For example, in autocross there are a lot of Stock and Street Prepared classes to enter into.

No. 3 once you choose the class start looking around at car part sites to find out prices on things or if you are very familair with your car you can go with used prices for your example. Remembers tires, suspension, labor (if you can't do it yourself), brake parts, etc.

No. 4 go to the websites I mentioned earlier and see what the prices are to run in your area. Autox for me can cost anywhere from $25 - $40 per event for the entry fee. I attended the Evolution School two weeks ago and that class was $240. Road Racing is quite a bit more expensive, base cost per weekend can start at a grand (entry fee, hotel, travel, parts, etc.)

No. 5 to Road Race competitively as you know requires a license, which requires instructor classes, seat time, and other requirements, that is a cost right there

No. 6 I think a good majority of Road Race cars are not streetable, now I could be wrong on that, so I would think to add in the cost of having the vehichle and trailer required to get the car to the track

Anyway, I chose autocross because it is what I can afford alot of seat time. I hope to build a Road Race car one day and be able to afford getting into it.

Hope this helps and apologies if I gave you info you already knew
