A challenge for SOHCArchangel or anyone else
This question pertains to a phenomenon I experienced in my car a few months ago which baffled me, I figured it out, and the problem was quite unusual. Here's what happened: I was driving home one night and I noticed a rattling noise starting from a stop or in low RPM's. It seemed like it was coming from the engine compartment, and it was very metallic. Just post a guess and I will continue to post hints over time.

My first guess would have been your DC Sports Air Intake. Sometimes, the K&N filter will vibrate against the fender well. At least, I've had that experience. Anyway, you said part of the exhaust.....Hmm....I'm out of ideas for now.

When I first got the intake, it did make a noise, but it was against the battery, I fixed it 30 sec later. That noise was not even close however.
i'd say a connection point somewhere in the exhaust system, maybe between header/test pipe (or cat, whichever you had) maybe someone didnt tighten the nuts tight enough...
he said no to the heat shield on the header
there are heat shields that follow the exhuast all the way down the underside of the car.

On Point, my car was dropped 2in, I would like to see the midget that could get under my car. I he's so short, maybe I couldn't see him...and give it up with the heatshield. Not the heatshield.

did the bolts come loose that connect the cat to the catback? or the downpipe or anything?
