Default Is this a good price? Del Sol

I'm in the final steps of buying a del Sol for myself; just wanted to see how much I should pay. Its a '94 VTEC (w/B16A3, VIN checks out - not a swap), clean title, 108k, red paint with a few parking lot dings/scratches, clean interior, everything works. Mechanic took a look and says that the shocks are leaking, the CV boots are worn but not torn yet, and the rear trailing arm bushings are worn.

The seller's asking 4500, blue book is 4000 clean, 4400 excellent, but I've heard these cars are hard to find, so I don't know how accurate blue book is. Should I try to bargain down? I'm tempted to just take it at asking to make sure I get the car.

BTW I'm near the Bay Area.

If the shocks are blown, you can probably talk the seller down from 4500. 4000 would be the most I'd give for that car though. You can find one in better condition for about the same price.

I'm not sure what you mean by "better condition". There's nothing wrong with the car that I wouldn't expect on a 12 year old car - and the mechanic didn't say the shocks were blown, he said the rears had a small leak, probably because of the worn bushings. Or does that mean they're completely blown? Two dealers in my area are asking 8000 (!) for the same year car, so this seems like a good price in comparision.

Might add that its completely stock.

Oof, forgot about them. NADA only lists retail as far as I can tell... 4625 ave 5500 high. Edmunds is 4300 good, 5k excellent.

It sounds like the seller's asking a little high, not too much. Thanks for all the response; I'll try to get him down to 4200 or so.

I've gone ahead and bought the car. We settled on 4250; given the condition of the car I think I did well.

Thanks!
