Default H22A Compression 180/270/270/180, What is up?

Just received a 93 or 94 H22A from jdm seller. Did compression test with motor still on crate.

Reads:

Number 1 is 180

Number 2 is 270

Number 3 is 270

Number 4 is 180

I would understand if one of them was off, but whats up with this.

Tested over and over.

The Number 1 and 4 increase compression slowly and the Number 2 and 3 increase compression very fast.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Thanks for help.

damn, 270? That's really high compression. Never heard of an H22 being that high

Ok just tried a brand new compression tester, same thing

My question is:

Is this H22A worth installing and taking a gamble on it or return it and get money back. Find a different one?

something is wrong if you are getting numbers like that

either return it or let someone else do the compression test

i've never seen a h22 hit 270 psi

Went down to Joe Locash's place and he said that alot of jdm engine that have been setting around for some time may have a ring or two stuck. Just add a cap or two of oil on top of pistons and let in run for a day or two and compression will be fine. It will even out. That man does know what he is talking about. Only one way to find out, start it, run it. If no good I will be pissed and show up to the door were I got it and get another. It was slim picking b/c it is LSD. Import power house in phoenix doesnt even have any. Tokoyo Speed pros have a couple cost $600 more though. I will keep you posted.

good luck but it's your valves stuck on that if the compression is that high

I just did a rebuild on my JDm h22a and I only got 250 accross. 270 is way to high unless you have a type s will is still not that high I believe

Well I finally installed the H22a and it must of been the rings sticking. I have 250/250/250/260 after it ran for 30 min. Second test is 250 accross. I took the risk of installing the engine and it turned out very good. Engine purrssssss.

I once questioned 270 once as well, it was expalined in differences of the tester, it isn't necessarily how how they reach but the consistency across, looks like you might have a problem, do a leak down test and make your decision from there, but if the motor "CAN" be sent back, consider it!!
Chances are they will argue it still is good. . .
