Default Velocity stacks on intakes (got a question)

I've been seeing all this talk about velocity stacks on short ram intakes. This has also come with the dyno sheets to prove it. Then today i was readiing the thread about the AEM CAI killing a J's style (a short ram) on the dyno.

So my queston is will the longer more complicated tubing of a CAI negate the effects of the velocity stack? I know the purpose to the stack is to increase mass flow rate into the intake tube (i assume this is why poeple are pairing it with short rams). So will the Length and bends in the CAI negate this flow rate increase?

If im not being clear enough let me know...

no engine is the same. some may respond well to a shorter pipe with the stack on the end. It seems as though they generally work well with a longer pipe. Dyno is the only way to be sure, you have to experiment.
