Default getting into reverse is getting diffiult

i bought a 98 lude sh with about 112,000 miles on it and have noticed over the past few weeks its getting more and more difficult to get it into reverse. the other gears work fine but this one. once in reverse, the car works fine. the car does have a short shifter made by dc motorsports, im just trying to narrow it down as to it being a transmission or shifter problem.

could be that the shift linkage has a bind somewhere, or the shifter from both sides of the linkage could need grease (on trans, and shift mechanism)

I forget what its called but there is some spray lubricant that works great on the shift linkage, if that ends up being your problem.

I have the same problem sometimes when starting the car for the first time of the day. I just put it in 1st, move up a foot , then go into reverse...works every time!

what ever you do don't force it into reverse.

i had a 94 lude and it started doing the same thing so my dumb a$$ got mad a nd started trying to cram it into reverse needless to say i bent the forks in the tranny and had to get a new one luckily i picked one up localy for $400.

Also my buddy had this problem in his 2000 prelude not sure if it would make any difference but his was a Base. had to rebiuld his tranny he also has a temper.

anyway just don't get pissed and start trying to cram it in reverse, go through all the gears fist then go to reverse or try letting your foot off the clutch a little as you go into reverse. just a little insite with a little advice.
