Default higher speed power loss?

ok so last weekend i was at a drag strip and noticed something. i have a few ideas of what it could be but not exactly sure.

the problem is, i have lots of power throught first and second. but when i hit third seems to be too drastic of a decrease for just shifting to 3rd.

my idea was i have too much air coming in and not enough out. or do i not have enough fuel going in. as for that i have an aem cold air, a bdl 70 mil throttle body, a streetperformaance and electronics helix tb spacer and a port and polish.

as for the out side i have the port and polish, dc sport headers. high flow cat. 2 1/4 piping with a brulen muffler.

so could it be just that i have too much air coming in and not enough out, or something else

your dc header is probably choking your car of power, get a SMSP or RMF or other quality header and you will see gains. Have you tuned your car?

just an idea...

if you had concerns about too much/little air and fuel, then your car should be affected at all gears. you stated that 1st and 2nd were fine; Why would third be different?

in other words, if you had bad air:fuel ratios, your rpm's will determine the "error" domain and not what gear you're in. my idea is that third has longer gearing and longer gears affect how much torque is put to the ground.

Ive noticed the same since I changed the fly to a 9lbs piece and bolted on a complete set of UR underdrive pulleys
I think the engine lost too much of the rotational inertia, which could translate to less torque.....correct me if im wrong though........

First and second are badass though and revs pick up like an offroad two stroke hehehe

the reason i had this concern was cuase when in third car seemed to choke alittle, cuasing me to think that the back pressure has to high or something, and for the fuel i hadnt been able to dyno tune the afc for the new climate, i had it tuned in alb new mexico and now live in denver. but thanks for the ideas

pretty fast for h23. my h22 has that same feeling, i just know it's 3rd gear i feel a drop in power too. i think 3rd is too long because honda's all about fuel mileage. but i don't......
