Default Has Anyone tried this Mod? Would this work for my idle issues?

My assumption is the person that did the write up, is calling the piece under the throttle body the wrong name. Hes calling it the Idle Air Control Valve. Its called the Fast Idle Air Control Valve right?
http://92lude.com/idle_air_control_bypass_mod.htm

My car will idle up and down in certain conditions. I will tell you these conditions so that you can evaluate:
1. When its night time( i assume it has nothing to do with the night.but more with the temperature at night). It idles erratic at night, i would say 100% of the time i drive at night.
2. When i race. only sometimes though.

Im for certain that its not a vac leak, vac leaks usually make your car idle up/down as soon as the car starts.Am i wrong? If i were to turn the engine off will it was flucutating, and restart it goes away, but within a couple of stops at a light, it goes back to fluctuating.

So what i was wondering is, will the above mod take away the idle fluctuation? Also, i heard that air in the coolant lines(tubes) will cause idle to fluctuate? is this true? If so, do you think i should check this? If so, how do you get air out the coolant lines?

Ok what about this... Can i reroute the Coolant lines that go to the Fast Idle Control Valve by just BYPASSing it fully. What i mean is go from thermostat to idle air control valve back to thermostat.
Alright guys... let me know what you think. Thanks

i had this same problem, it was the eacv, electronic air control valve. mine was just really gunked up. its the one on the front of the intake man, has two houses coming out of it. try taking that off and cleaning the screen inside, should work

oh and sorry as far as bypassing the fast idle valve, yes you can do that. most aftermarket tb wont have that valve and require you to bypass it anyway. its only there to help with cold start ups

So no one thinks that doing the above mod will work? Ive cleaned out the IACV( as nonvtechlude calls it the EACV) before, it hasnt helped. Ive changed it twice( one was from my h23 intake mani from previous engine, other was original one from engine swap).
Take for yoru advice. imma take some more opinions if anyone else is willing to share. Thanks guys

ive done it. yea just loop the coolant line going out of hte thermostat back into where it comes back in.

after i did this i started having hte idle problem ur talking about. take of the fast idle control valve, take the valve and spring out, and flip the little plate that holds the spring in place around so its closer to the inside of the valve and makes the spring tighter... ull see what i mean when u take it apart.

if ur sure its not a vacuum leak it will work like a charm

arite well if u do it right it definitely works... the tricky part is just getting the spring/valve back in without the spring slipping off the plate. ull be able to see if its on right or not tho so no worries

Thanks Guys...
so... nuezdaman44, you looped the coolant line from the "out thermo nipple" back to the in thermo nipple?" So you bypassed the Fast Idle Control AND the Idle Air Control? What tool did you use to take apart the valve( I assume the "white" piece is the part that needs to be unscrewed.) How did you unscrew it?

The site has went down hill the past couple years, but ohh well, no really else much to say about.

Yes, It worked for my idleing problem. Thought it was a great write-up. Try it out...Its really easy. If it doesnt work then its easly undone.

yea i bypassed them both... nothing having to do with intake is getting coolant right now

and i think the white valve has a slit in it that u can unscrew with a flathead but i dont really remember... ull be able to figure it out tho once its apart

I just tightened the white plastic collar down and that fixed my idle. Worked for several other people too.
