Default Difficulty in remove/install auto tranny??

I'm in the process of reading up, and learning everything I can to remove and install my auto tranny myself. It recently crapped out and I dont have the money for some place to rip me off.

I'm hearing that the axles are the most difficult in the whole process. I've never removed my axles. I've only replaced my radiator, and both hoses before I had to be at work awhile back, which was the only minor DIY. I'm not a complete noob with tools and such but I've never done anything major like this.

For my first real DIY, I've searched on the topic I have a Chilton not a Helms. I can't really afford the Helms right now. My question, how difficult is the process from start to finish? I have about 2 weeks to read up and get the tools for the process inculding the tranny.

Go to http://www.4gcivic.net and click on the classic guides and look for the axle how to. Also take a look at my auto to manual conversion guide where I talk about removing the auto.

I assume you will be dropping it out the bottom? If so get another set of hands to get it back in. Its a lot heavier than the manuals.

^ I'm really new to almost everything about Civics, but where do I go to find a auto transmission(used) at? Is junkyards the only option. Anyone on the Seattle area interested in doing a transmission swap?
