Finally got a bike!!!
Well I've been interested in motorcycles every since I was a little kid. Every Friday morning I woke up to my dad warming up his Ducati 851 and ever since my passion for motorcycles has grown. I postponed riding in order to pursue my asian import car addiction which in turn lead me to HT. But since I got to college and had two cars stolen I've realized its time to move on to something else.
Anyway...I bought a 2003 CBR 600-RR
Bike stats:
- 4900 miles
- OEM Gloss Black Honda Rear Seat Cowl
- OEM Gloss Black painted lower fairings
- Brand New Michelin Pilot Power tires – front and rear
- Lockhart Phillips flushmount smoked front signals
- Lockhart Phillips slim arrowhead smoked rear signals
- Custom fender eliminator / license plate bracket
- Frame sliders
I learned on a 250 cruiser & this is definitely 100 x's different. Much more powerful, the aggressive riding position changes things, and since I have short legs..struggling with the height adds some complications. I've only had a chance to put on 15-20 miles of very novice riding but so far its been great. I am hoping to put many many more miles on this coming weekend. I tipped it over once but luckily the frame sliders were there and I wasn't at a busy intersection or anything. I know it goes without saying but..the power is just amazing. I 'power-walked' a buddies R6 up and down a driveway before but actually twisting the wrist on a 600 is great.
Here are some pics.

Sorry the pics aren't great but I was just too excited about having the bike to concentrate on shots. I'm going to bust out the tripod and do it up 'official' soon.

and yeah bikes get stolen 1000x easier. I wish you the best of luck and keep the sticky side down. take the MSF!!!</TD></TR></TABLE>
People do this who track their bike on a track that has a lot of the same turns (i.e. left turns)...once they run one side down a little they flip it around to get (somewhat) even wear......
At least thats what I have been led to believe....i'm a straightliner

new packing system = same tone as yosh, m4, muzzy etc. etc. etc.
old packing= classic d&D sound.
so really you have a choice.

imo dont go d&d no offense jdmboostedlude but if you guys just fix the problem of it hanging SO SO LOW on the 05-06 rr's that would be perfect, on the 03-04 they hang right up there so i dont see why theres a "heat" issue all exhuast for the 05-06 hang low

Thanks for the comments guys!
I didn't 'switch' to bikes just because my cars were stolen. That implies that I think bikes are free from theft. I decided to stop trying with the cars and divert my funds to another interest to fuel my inner speed freak. Plus, since I don't have to take the bike everywhere..I can keep it safer.
But anyway...WOW!!! I didn't know the front tire was on backwards. That is terrible. They came with the bike so I guess the previous owner didn't know either. I got the bike for $5k. Oh and yeah..my dad has been riding for about 30 years now, he's got a 'Busa' & I'm prettty sure he can smoke me with that. Even though he's 50 now, he still hits the track. He bought a Triumph Speed Four for the track days since the gigantic 'busa' lacks the nimble characteristics he likes on the twisties.
No pics of the old 851, he sold that a while ago. I loved looking at that bike though.
Thanks again for the comments!
