Are SF Bay Area Type-Rs being targeted?
I have been reading this board for over two years and have been as shocked as everyone else by the number of stolen Rs reported. Until about 5 weeks ago, very few of these reports came from the Bay Area (though there are quite a few Rs here). Now it seems one is reported stolen every weeks or so (and, of course, every theft is unlikely to be reported here). There were a few last month, one in Berkeley last week, and an attempted theft today (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=162122) in San Mateo.
Perhaps I am getting paranoid in my old age, but it really does seem that this area is now being targeted.

yeah......there are a bunch dude's that steal cars pretty clean up here. I would suggest geting an alarm and rerouting the hood cable. The pattern is the same...if you have stock front the use a jig saw to cut around the emblem and the hood cable is right there. they pull it, cut your alarm, and then your car is gone. my friend's turbo gsr got stolen like that and a couple of other people have gotten their cars stolen like that. so everyone should reroute the hood cable if they are worried.
Or get a hoodlock. I think theives are everywhere now. Things probably are just getting worse because there has been a boom in demand for parts.

Keep it LOCKED up in a garage. If you have no garage, its not a matter of if.. just WHEN.
I also remove some things while parked in the garage.... so its not drivable...
