Sisters 95 Prelude SE having tranny problems, could use advice
My sister has a 95 prelude w/2.3 i believe. Anyway her tranny has hard shifting problems. I thought it might be the clutch but she took it to a shop and they said they think its internal and the clutch is okay. I work at an infiniti dealership and one of the guys said hed be more then willing to help replace the clutch, but if its the tranny what is involved? Im thinking a refresh kit would solve the problem but i dont know too much about honda trannys. What do you all think?
simple way to check if your clutch is going out is get to about 30mph or so put it in 5th gear and jam on the gas, if your tach goes up and your not accelerating much then your clutch is probably going south. If it is just hard to shift, your shift linkage may be going out.. if its not that then maybe your master/slave cylinder for your clutch maybe bad.
hope it helps..

hey Pullig, this isnt a FS forum, he asked a question and if you have no insight or advice, then DONT ******* POST!!!
as for the OP, does the shifter move at all? does it just grind when she tries to shift? May be the syncros, or the shifter cables could be broken. Mine were broken and I changed the tranny only to ralize I had a good tranny but broken cables

If you get a new transmission they are fairly cheap and are pretty easy to install. Probably about a 5 hour job if you know what you're doing. If you get a new tranny you can get one for any model. S = F22 SI = H23 Vtec = H22
IMO the H23 tranny is the best but any tranny will work with any motor.

just check the cables to make sure. it would suck to replace the tranny only to find the cables broken, i know from experience

it shifts hard, like you cant make the gear engage smoothly??
i would bleed the clutch and make sure its fully engaging/disengaging......then i would make sure the shift cables are ok.....to do that put it in 1-3-or 5 and try to push more forward, if you can, replace them....
if none of that works, let us know, because hard shifts shouldnt have anything to do with internals.....if there was a syncro problem gears would grind or worse....
