ok, i like passwordjdm, they seem like a good bunch of guys. i have ordered many things from them.
they do not make anything carbon fiber. they sell items, but dont make them.
i am aware that ViS used to make this hood.
tried ordering one latley? no one has them and the places that carry them are all getting the same story told to them.
im not going to disclose here everything that i was told, but suffice to say, its not really possible to buy a crx jdm vis cf hood right now, unless its on ebay or in the classifieds here, and i looked.
this is the best option for now, and plus fiber images makes sick quality stuff.

pm'ed you for disclosure.
i want one too, and i know when boosted chemist sees this he'll be here with a couple friends.
i thought FI already made a si-r hood? you are talking about a regular jdm si-r for a si-r front hood, right?

i just bought my first crx a week ago so i don't know much about the body styles,
does the jdm hood fit the usdm front or is it like the jdm itr conversion where you need the entire package.
my usdm hood is mutalated so i was in the CF market as well.

if you stay usdm, then theres pleanty of hood around, even that company seibon makes one. so dont worry.

i am only reffering to the longer jdm/edm headlights from the ef8/ef9's
"JDM stlye" hoods for usdm fronts are all over the place, BUT i already have an edm front on my car, so nothing else will do. once you go wraparounds and longer lights, the car just looks like it was meant to be that way.
And i spoke with FI directly yesterday, and they said what i posted above. they have a jdm hood from a 1.5X with japanese stickers on the underside, but never molded it becasue there wasnt enough interest.
well its time to "create" this interest.

i'm in. i have been trying to get in touch with FI to do this same group buy for a while with some other h-t guys, but they aren't easy to get on the phone. i'll send everyone else over here.
make sure they make it with no under-hood skeleton like they do on their "si-r for usdm front" hood. more room for fun.

I used to have a FI USDM SiR style hood. It was great quality, way better than all of the VIS junk I've seen. Very light and strong. They used to have a video of them running cars over their hoods and not breaking. This is a great oppurtunity to get a great product made. FI are great products I would buy one myself, but I like my new steel JDM hood.
I might be joining up to get one of these. I have 3 JDM front setups all with no hoods, just lights and bumpers, so this might be an easier way to sell the complete kits.
Fiber Images
heard some horror stories about how they get ppl to get into these group buys...and then they LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG on making the parts (5-6 months, and sometimes longer), and their quality isnt all what its cracked up to be
right now with the carbon shortage and it being in such high demand, most companies dont wanna do customer order parts in carbon, becuz they dont wanna take the risk in making something that might not sell...

i've owned FI, VIS, and Lighter-Faster carbon products, and the parts quality of everything i've seen from FI is absolutely top notch. Having 10 people up front(according to FI) is enough to alleviate their concerns about spending the time/money to produce a mold.
negative hearsay, rather than productive criticality, is not the way to get stuff like this done.

not too much to ask.

PWJDM doesn't carry hoods any longer for the jdm front.
Seibon makes something that...fits. Try calling though, they will sound confused on the phone. So yes that encouraged me to drop $500 on one + shipping.
Obviously I need a hood, but I won't guarantee I will keep $500 sitting around for a year when I could just put that in my next purchase.

both seibon and FI make a usdm hood that bumps the other way, with the little usdm lights.
im talking 100% jdm.
im going to call again tomorrow and get a more accurate timeframe if they were presented with the money.
so im at a tentative 5 thus far. please if you have a firend whos getting the run around from ViS send them to this thread, or email me at
dthink AT optonline.net
100% serious about this, they want to make the product, but won't if its a one off or a custom job for just me or like 2 ppl, since that would mean me paying for all the mold labor alone, which isnt happening.

I bought my USDM FI hood from a group buy on HT back when carbon fiber hoods first came out, some 6-7 years ago. I made the order sent the funds, and it was here with a quickness mabey 5-7days, and the usual top notch FI quality. Obviously this is a custom order so it may take slightly longer, but It will be worth it. Fiber Images is the best quality CF hoods I've seen, next to $1000 setups like spoon, and what not that have no support for EFs. I'm sorry doublethink I have no will want or desire for a CF hood, but I will try to help your cause as much as I can. There needs to be a quality CF hood out there for JDM frotends, because VIS is just not quality at all.

I like my FI hood, but I have seen the JDM VIS CF hood and I was impressed. It had perfect fitment and nothing about it seemed cheap. I prefer to not have the webbing under the hood, but it was nice.

All of the VIS stuff I have ever seen, were flimsy and the edges looked like crap.
