You could put another timing belt in it, that basically calls for an engine rebuild which is always great for the car.

seafoam is good stuff to use as well.

What? Changing a timing belt is changing the timing belt. It's far from an engine rebuild. It may not be due for changing, depends when it was changed last. All I would advise you to do is keep up the maintenance.

Proper maintenance will help you out. Performance wise i wouldnt do anything to a motor of that high mileage. You can but i just wouldnt. You could do a full rebuild of your motor and try to drop a turbo thats the closest thing i can think of without doing an engine swap and such.

You could get it rebuilt and shave the head for some more compression, plus do a P&P.
You'd end up with 165-170 at the crank. not bad if it's gonna need a rebuild at some point soon.
Not sure how much cheaper than a swap though.

Take the intake manifold off and clean it good, will help alot with the performance of the vehicle also might want to change the timing belt because its an interference motor. also while the intake manifold off clean the egr ports. It will save you some problems down the road. And good luck.
