I am at the beginning of my B18C5 swap into my '90 CRX si. I have been looking for mounts that are a good price. I have found a few for about $120 shipped but they are for a cable tranny. The price really jumps when I look for Hydro mounts. Most of the mounts I find are all aluminum. I don't like junk but I don't like bling either. I certainly don't want to pay for flash if I don't have to. I am looking for just plain black welded steel mounts. I have thought of buying a set and using them as a template to make my own and then return them. Anybody have some mounts laying around willing to let me build a copy set? If not does anyone know where some plain-Jane mounts are for a good price?

You do relize billet aluminum is stronger then any steel mount that has been welded right.

Sounds like you want a good mount but don't want to spend a lot.

 

My friend had great luck with some ebay ones looked like a hasport copy, just not as pretty.

I run hasport and love them.
As 90blackcrx said hasport will end this thread. They are a great piece.

 

The Hasport mounts are the mounts I am trying to avoid. Not only because they are so damn expensive but because of the "bling". There is a guy in my town who did a similar swap using the hasport mounts and I dont like it. You open the hood and eveything looks clean (stock) except for the shiny mounts. They stick out like a sore thumb. For as much fabricating as I have done (automotive and industrial) I am not too concerned with the welded steel mounts failing. I could just make my own mounts but for about $120 that I found the cable ones its not worth the trouble going through the work.

I take it I am one of the few that likes the subtle look without the "look at me" screaming to every pimple-faced kid and every cop in town. Dont get me wrong I am impressed with the quality of the Hasport mounts, I just like the "clean and mean" look better than the flash of polished aluminum.

Of course if you want to float me a loan I would gladly put the Hasport mounts in.

AZ racing is the only other company I will back, but they are "bling" also according to you.

I have dealt with the steel mounts before and they are a pain in the ***, I had one pair that fit like crap on a crx. The bushing was crooked inside causing the mount to sit off, not good when it comes to engine mounts.

$350 for hasport mounts if you look around an search

You beat me toad, but thoughs are bling . Paint the hasport ones if you are worried about looks.

I have hasport and I could careless about the looks, I know how well they perform and I know if you put a glass of water on my engine and rev the engine up, I know the water is not going no where.

Alright guys............ My *** is hurting from you guys tearing me a new one. I gotta admit thats some funny ****. Now do I poop on them before I paint them? Wont the paint have a hard time sticking to the poop?

Good point on the reliability of the Hasport mounts. That is something I wasent taking into consideration. I was just assuming the mounts were all about as reliable as eash other. I guess sometimes you have to spend the money even if you dont want to.

What I mean about bling is the high school kids around here that have 8 foot rear wings duct-taped to their cars and walmart spinners. The people around here think the more shine on your car the better it is.

Who cares what they think? Hasports work, and AZ do too.

Your car do as you please you want what works well we are telling you

Just paint them flat black and it'll look almost stock.

Any word on how good the Innovative mounts are? I see I could buy the mounts and the cable-to-hydro conversion parts for $299. I have seen a few auto-xers sponsered by these guys. I would guess if they could hold up to autocrossing the would handle me. I know the Hasport mounts are good but I'm just curious if anyone has experience with these "other" manufacturers.

 

If you don't like the "bling" of the Hasport mounts, you could always lightly sandblast them.

Even easier, you could keep your hood closed.

As for the cost of "hydro" mounts, does that include the linkage converstion? If so then they would be worth the price.

i was gonna suggest the innovative mounts for the price and the non-bling factor your looking for. innovative is supposed to be good ****. i almost bought those but i just bought a set of hasport hydro convserion mounts/linkage because i wanted the best part i could buy so i never have to buy again.

I haven't made up my mind. I don't know where you got that idea. I am not asking for anyones approval. I am asking for peoples experiances (good or bad) with "plain Jane" mounts. Isent that the point of a forum?

I think I would got less flack if my original question would have been "Anyone know how to put a V8 in a CRX"?

Hey CRX Toad, I agree $280 is good for the AZ mounts but when I went to the site the link for the Hydro setup didn't work. Was your $280 mounts from AZ set up for cable or Hydro?

 

chrome mounts are going to be all you see but powder coat them if you are worried about it, i too back up AZ they are very very well made, i switched from hasport to AZ, lifetime warrenty free bushing replacement if anythnig does go wrong ect, just overall great mounts

why do people always say hasport? how many people are really interested in the design, placement,bushing durometer number. i mean are people buying the name? i actually sold my hasports to go with AZ. i donno i mean it seems people say hasport and they try to sell a name, instead of giving a good reason as to why hasport is good. not only that but hasport makes i believe 3 different durometer number ratings yada yada
