Look at this setup on the QuakerState car at ETown yesterday!!! I have a FI question
How reliable for a street car is this setup..Okay I went to the Nitto event and Englishtown yesterday and I stopped by the Quaker state car..I was talkng to the tech and he told me he was not running an IC because he was using methanol..but what i want to know is (i forgot to ask him)
1. he has no BOV on the car what issues will this cause?
2. he has 2 wastegates on the car are there any benifits?
3. he said he is running methnol and from what i swa the resivor on the right side is for the meth so i asum its going to the Intake manifold somewhere?
4. how reliable would this be on a street car?I.e u drive it on a regular basis but take it t the track on weekend..(tuned of course)
5. would there be any issues tuning this?

1. when you dont lift the gas pedal at all goin down the track you wouldnt need a bov plus some tend to leak at boost levels im sure that kenny tran is running
2. well what come into regulating the boost better. im sure that motor see more than 60lbs of boost
3.methnol is the type of fuel they are running
4. not reliable at all

thats a complete drag setup. The turbo facing the front like that isnt really ideal for the street.
No BOVs are becuase the trubo is sooo big that they wont encounter any compressor surge.
2 wastegates ensure that there low boost settings hold.If they only had one gate, they would have to run higher boost levels and thats not cool for the hole shot.
U will not be DD this car by any means.lol

1. Very little because they're likely sponsored with turbos and have several sitting in the trailer, and probably no lift shift.
2. The ability to control boost better on a huge turbo like that.
3. Methanol is a fuel. There will be lines from the tank to the huge fuel pump driven off of the intake cam gear, through a fuel pressure regulator and to a fuel rail or two, and then to the injectors.
4. If you have to ask how reliable this is going to be on a street car, it's way out of your league. Methanol is a very corrosive alcohol and you need twice the volume of it compared to gas. So if your car gets 30 MPG on gas, you're going to hit about 15 MPG on methanol, severely restricting the range of your vehicle. Not to mention Methanol is not sold at any gas stations, you need to pump it out of the cars fuel system when you park it, etc.
5. Not if you're a competent tuner.
I'm not really sure what the point of this post is, but realize that a 1000+ horsepower, methanol running race car with a front mounted turbo has absolutely no relation to a street car, or any business being on a street car.

Clutchless sequential shifting and it doesn't break. That's all. lol Bothwell is running the same trans in the garrett sunfire. Pretty bad ***. I have one at my shop right now that i'm putting in JJ Olsen's car.
