I must be getting old... anyone ever consider owning a BMW sportbike?
Well, they are more suited to where and how I ride, and I'm not really concerned with top speed or whp anymore. The only thing I would be worried about it their weight. Anyone ever ride the K1200RS or R1200S?
I used to work for them and have ridden them all. The weight is not an issue as soon as you start moving. Both the K12RS and R11S handle very well, the telelever front suspension is a great design - negligible dive.
I assume you would be looking used since both models are discontinued now.
The K bike engine is very smooth. I've caught myself moving a lot faster than I felt like I was going.
If you look at the R1100S considering one with the dual spark heads, they run a little smoother. I can't remember which year they switched (2004 I think).

Looks nice. How much are they? I wouldn't worry about the weight if you're not planning on planting your knee on every corner. I've seen some guys on Goldwings that hustle pretty well.
They're pretty cool.
I hope Nate Kern brings some of his out this year to some Pro Motion trackdays again, it's awesome watching him run circles around everyone on those thing.
Dude can ******* fly

Only while everyone laps it.

Also considering a clean stock Hayabusa too. Basically looking for something in the GT or Sport touring portion of the spectrum.
I actually rode a V-Rod, last summer. I didn't like the riding position. I owned a Yamaha Virago 700 for a short time, I'm just not a fan of cruisers... don't like their looks mostly. I like the Aerodynamic look of a full fairing.
...and FYI they are redesigning the V-Max for '07. First new design since '85 for the most part.

I've considered getting BMW "sport" bike. Something with the accoutrements of the Goldwing (or perhaps closer to the Honda ST11/1300), while still offering a spirited ride. It'll come in handy, especially decked out with saddlebags and a backrest, for long trips with the wifey. Right now she hates the 3x3 padded seat that makes up my pillion.
