Default R-compound tires no longer DOT approved??

This is a rumor I've heard more than once. I have searched Google and can't find anything about this. Is this a myth or does someone out there know more? The new DOT ratings are changing so apperently the current R-compound tires will not meet the new regulations for street tires, that's the word.

What effect will this have on the SP classes and stock classes, if this is true?

If this is a repost....oops.
