If you are using 16 or 18 gauge there is, no matter what.

the shutter would make sense, keep those intake velocities up even under part throttle.

I'm not buying that as a throttle the map or maf signal would be funky on that thing with the throttle there.

maybe it just helps dissipate heat?????

Bracing the downpipe seems much easier?

This is the way I look at it:

The "ram horn" should hold a tubo no problem.. it's the engine torquing vs the exhaust that could put a lot of stress on the manifold. The engine acts like a pry bar to your manifold. A flex pipe should fix this but I'd still rather have some bracing on the downpipe to keep the forces from fighting each other. They'll do this with any high-production 'header' (inluding OEM!!) so why not.

Well its got those two cables off the side of that part, so that kinda lends to the throttle idea. As stated earlier renault did some wacky **** in the 80s.

There were alot more cars besides renault running tb's in front of the turbo.
And i'm pretty sure they had a good handle on how to tune their cars.

Here's one of BMW's engine...

so whats the idea behind this? is this "the" trottle body for the engine or is there a conevntional throttle body setup and a throttle for the turbo. anybody have any idea what the advantage of this type of setup would be?
