Got tired of my dull cluster, so i did this...
Not long ago i found that you could change the bulbs behind your gauges and change them very easily... here is what i did... it was suprisingly easy too... I got the bulbs for 6 bucks...
First i bought 3 194 blue bulbs from walmart

Second i got the necessary tools... small phillips screw driver and a flathead to gently pry off the black plastic cover over the cluster...

Took off the plastic cover and gauge cluster...

Changed the three bulbs behind the cluster... they are easy to spot and pop right out...

Pop back in the cluster when your done and you have this... there are also amber and green bulbs available...

Also by taking off the blue condoms off the stock bulbs and re using them with the blue bulbs, you get a deeper, clearer blue...

Here they are in amber, i like these, gonna try red soon too...

Personally, I think driving at night is better when the cabin is as dark as possible. This allows the eyes to focus on the lights and shadows outside the vehicle.
Whatever floats your boat.

Yeah, the lights are more of a baby blue color... they had amber and green im likely goin to try those and ill post pics of what they look like...

I agree. Especially on long drives i like the cabin as dark as possible, it just kills my eyes, and gets me tired quicker.

definitly different, but looks like it would be a little harsh and distracting on the eyes on long drives
if you like it then thats what matters, dont change it because others say so, its your own car

I did mine red, blue, and now amber. I even tried those reverse indiglows that light up blue and red. Looked good since it matched my sony deck, but once that got jacked, the reverse indiglows had to go. Too bad those of you who have the blue led's couldnt make your needle a red led, kinda like the newer civics/vw's.
no i didnt clean up the needles, i bought WLED 5-LED Wide Angle LED bulb's which are brighter, i did the blue leds cause I have cobalt gauges to install in the car and i wanted it to match, I was going to get a set of reverse indiglow gauges, but the leds only cost me 11.00 for 3 bulbs over 40 for the guages
I wanna take the blue condoms off the stock bulbs and place them over the new ones... i wonder if it will give it a deeper blue look... ill post pics if it looks good..
I personally love the stock red and changed the bulbs in my gauges to match.
Red is easier on the eyes at night and does not affect your night vision nearly as much. Most semi trucks have the red colored gauges for just such reason.

Ok i just put the the blue condoms from the stock bulbs... gave it a much deeper blue... and toned down the brightness, these pics make them lighter than they actually look, but the condoms definately helped....
Took condoms off stock bulbs

Put stock condoms on new blue bulbs

Here is what came from the condoms...its a lil' darker in real life though...

Here is before with no condoms, haha...
