Default Need help installing Body Kit, Rear bumper won't fit

Hey I am installing this kit on my girl's 92 prelude and I can get every piece on except the back bumper cover. her back bumper is sticking out too far and the cover will not go over it and line up with the holes. How can I remove the bumper or what do i do. It is actually a metal plate that is attached to the bumper that is sticking out too far. I cut the top portion of the plate but then I realized that the bitch is like pressed on there or something and it will take an act of god to get it off. I am sure I must be doing something wrong because why would any body make a kit that you would have to remove the bumper? I believe this is the combat kit

Because people want to make $$. Many body kits almost never fit 100 % right and take a lot of work to get OEM, simply because theyre not.

As of now you can either shave down the bumper, cut down the rear support, or remove the rear support (get an angle grinder or a reciprocating saw with a metal blade). Personally as your GF shes probably soemone you care about, and removing her rear bumper support will make thing a good bit more dangerous for her.

I say put the stock bumper back on, go grab a wings west lip and call it a day. You'll probabvly save time in the long run.

in the trunk there's 2 bolts on esch side that hold the bumper support on. The holes to the bolts might be covered w/ a plastic cap. Remove those and antother exterior bolts, bolted to the support and it shall come off.

Imo i wouldn't do a full kit on the lude. LIP KIT But to answer your question, I had that problem before on an accord. The only way to fit the bumper on i had to remove the whole bumper reinforcement, i tried shaving it down but by the time i was done there was hardly anything left so off it went. Good Luck with that!

I had to grind the hell out of my bumper to get it to fit. I just kept taking a little more off and kept trying it till it looked good.
