I hear so much about these, yet I never see anyone with them on their Preludes.

The ones I ordered are hand built to whatever spec I want..I chose 15K front and 13K rear with pillow mounts..doesn't strike me as "beginner" in anyway

hmm well you can pretty much do that with any coilover, choose your spring rates, i guess by handbuilt you mean he will remove the top piece to put in different springs from stock. pillowball mounts are nice but with the prelude suspension, you won't be able to make the most of them. those are really high spring rates. ksports are the same as D2 coilovers but cheaper.

the reason I say its a "beginner" is because its priced well (better than getting teins) and there are much more expensive coilover systems by far. most ppl driving preludes aren't gonna drop $4-5k on coilovers.

ksports are not exactly the same as the d2s. the D2s are the parent company and manufacture ksports as a private label.

the ksports have a lower line shock assembly and offer less adjsutabilty than the d2 shocks.

Default n00b question :-P

Hi all! I'm a n00b in suspension.. so don't flame pls whaddayall think of this? ? Going for $NZ180... prob $US300. Are JDM reputable? Also weird as it seems to be just the springs, not shocks - why would they be advertised as coilovers then? Thanks for your help!!

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade...8.htm

JDM COILOVER SPRINGS PRELUDE 92-96 coilover lowering springs KIT complete with rings & rubbers.(2 front & 2 Rear). Aluminum sleeves and dual locking perches, coil springs, aluminum centering top hats, spanner wrenches, bag of plastic rings. Lower your car between 1-4" simply by adjusting the locking perches. Work with Original Stock Shocks or High Performance Aftermarket Shocks. Easy installation with right tool; professional installation recommended.

Sounds like something one would find on ebay. Stay away from cheap springs/shocks and if you're changing the springs, upgrade the shocks as well. Aftermarket springs + stock shocks= uncomfortably bouncy ride + blown shocks.

Trusted brands for:
-full coilover system: Ksport, D2, Tein, AMR Engineering, mugen
-springs/coilover (sleeve type): Ground Control (coilover), tein, tanabe, eibach,
h&r, neuspeed
-shocks: koni (best), kyb, tokico

Even though i'm a 4th gen...i've been running 16k/14k ksports on my car all year. I agree with the fact that there is little to no adjustability in terms of the shocks, but mine were also custom and revalved from the company to handle the higher spring rates. Other than that, they are excellent. I have had many combo setup with various coilovers and shocks...but none are even close. I highly recommend them.
