Strange engine noise in 99 GS-R

Hi,

I have a 99 GS-R with about 99K miles that just started making an odd engine noise. I'm getting sort of a growl-clatter-rattle sound from about 3100-3500 RPM. It does not matter what gear--it even does it in neutral. I haven't noticed any change in performance.

Has anyone run into this?

It is your catalytic convertor shield under the car. Its common on Integras.
