Default Supertech springs & retainers (concerned w/ how they fit) PICS inside

Does anybody have springs and retainers that fit like this. The springs are actually a bit larger than the retainers....I was told that this was due to the same retainers being used on several applications, to keep cost down.

My "Head Guy" didn't say anything about the fitment, and Willey at Supertech said it was normal.

I was just hoping to get a few opinions or others experience with similar or the same product

Ive never seen any fitment like that before, then again I have never used supertech in any of my builds. I will only use rocket motorsports, omnipower or portflow. Thay may put alot of stress on the edge of the retainer.

how did they fit with the retainer when just laying around, did the retainer move around a lot or was it snug?

No, they were snug, just how they should be. I've just never seen a fitment like this

If I'm not mistaken, Rocket also has redesigned their retainers and they look identical to that. Just and FYI

Apparently you won't have all that chatter with the big cams where the rocker arms "bite" the retainers leaving "teeth marks."

SuperTech has redesigned their retainers to give you more rocker arm clearance for higher lift cams. They will be fine for you.

mr. laskey, how long ago did supertech do this? is it another part number? If i were to order direct from you, would all retainers look like that as well?

by the look of the pic of your retainers it looks like you have their new retainer design. the ones in my car is tapered into the middle of the valve. these new retainers are suppose to take stress off the rockers and allow for higher lift cams.
