Default Changing lug nuts on the ground?

Lets say someone didn't have a jack and he uses his sisters or moms scissor jacks sometimes, but they're out of town. Would it be safe for him to change the lug nuts one at a time while the car is still on the ground?

if you were a 5 lug thug, i'd say you are safe changing one at a time. if you're a 4 lugger... your choice

As long as your doing 1 at a time and doing the top one each time (take off one replace then move car forward to change positions) then youll be able to torque it good.

I swapped my lugs w/ my cousin and we both had 4 lug tires. you can do 2 at a time as long as they're diagonal from each other, you can't do ones next to each other. Not sure if people will agree w/ me, but it worked fine for us.

Holy jesus of course it would be fine.

Ever notice how many cars on the road are running around minus one lug (4 lug hondas included). If it was that dangerous, it would never stop being on CNN

"Another driver dies today because he was missing one of his lug nuts."

That being said, you still should just go buy a damn jack because what kind of gear head doesn't own one anyway. It's one of the most useful things out there besides and adjustable wrench.
