I just had this issue but I don't think I would have described my noises as crackling. It may be a slight rumble when you're turning because the engine is getting moved in a certain way from the force. But you should get them check out by a shop and change them fast. example: I live in Round Lake, and that's about 30 miles from Schaumburg where Factory 5 is, that's the shop I go to now and then/trust. I had the guy test it and he told me my stuff was shot, I drove it home and decided not to drive it again until I had to bring it. On my way to the shop Saturday night at 1am I got this really weird clunking, I didn't know it at the time but the vibration caused my lugs on my front driverside to come lose. 2 of my studs broke off and the other 2 were going to go shortly after. I had to pay 110 to tow it to the shop......if I could have gotten it taken care of sooner I wouldn't have had to pay for the tow and the stud replacements. So save yourself some aggrivation and get it looked at ASAP and go from there. If you can change them yourself go for it. Anyhow, I hope this helps you in someway.....good luck.

if your mounts are broken, you will have very rough shifting while driving, there will feel as though there is a loss of power, rpm will drop more during shifting, wheel hop during a hard shift, gas mileage decrease..

from a visual standpoint if you see the motor moving back and forth too much, your mounts could be shot. its plain to see if they are okay or not.. there are five including trans mounts.

1_ main mount behind motor(largest)
2_ mount by timing belt
3_ mount by distributor
4_ mount for trans
5_ mount by power steering assembly

the mount that will be most noticable if broken would be your main mount behind the motor.. that will make the biggest difference if replaced.. the other mount really dont do too too much..
