Usually there are two holes in the drum
that a small bolt (8mm X 1.25mm) can be threaded into
to act as a puller..
If the drums are badly grooved,You may have to back off the brake
adjuster by holding the adjuster catch plate up and looseing the adjuster.

That usually works best. Just keep screwing both bolts in even and it will actually break the drum loose for you.

Just screw in the screws and periodically smack the hammer to break the years of rust and grim off. I recently did mine, pulled the pass. side of with ease. Driver took me a bit more of elbow grease.
if the drum is very old and worn, then there will be a lip at the edge of the drum which will completely prevent the drum from coming off because the shoes are below the line of the lip. there is an oval rubber plug in the back of the hub assembly that you can remove and gain access to the star adjuster. its a total pain, but you should be able to manually adjust the shoes tighter so the drum can then come off.

You would have to loosen it to remove..Right?</TD></TR></TABLE>
i dont think you understand. the point is to bring the shoes in closer, so the overall diameter of the shoes is small enough to clear the lip of the drum.
to rephrase whats happened is that the ID of the drum has grown bigger due to wear. the OD of the shoes have grown bigger to match. however, the edge of the drum that does not touch the shoe surface has stayed the same. so now the shoes OD is bigger than the ORIGINAL ID of the drums. you need to back out the shoes so the OD of the shoes is smaller than the original ID of the drums, or close enough that the drum can be free.

Ok..I got ya,It was the way you worded it that threw me..
Anyone that has ever done this knows what a pain it
can be..
Hold a flashlight in your teeth,And use both hands with
a small pick and a small flat blade screwdriver or brake adjustment tool.
Use the pick to hold the self adjuster lever up and the flat blade
to spin the star adjuster in..
All this through a tiny slot you can hardly see through.

hmm my friends s10 had a drum issue too, where we beat the hell out of it with a hammer. then the teacher got the idea to torch the **** out of the middle of it (wheel cylinder or w/e its called) so the middle expands and it came right out after it was red hot.
