What will happen if I use 87 unleaded for the SI?
Don't use 87. Use premium. Don't be a cheap *** with gas. I know premium is expensive, but that is what the car is tuned on. Would you want to mess up your engine just to save $2-$3 a tank? And don't fill up at exxon. Boycott exxon.
If you put 87 in an 06 si, it will cause a minute molecular distortion wave that will cause the gravitational field of the earth to change, thus causing the core to implode. So just don't do it.
If the weather is not too hot, and you're not continuously running at WOT, nothing will happen.
You may notice that a loss of a little power (ignition being retarded) and a small loss in fuel economy.

Why do people want to ban Exxon? You people read too many chain emails. Exxon's profit margin wasn't as high as many industries, they were towards the middle. Yea they made alot of money, but it costs alot of money to do what they do.

Why the hell would you run 87 in a car that requires premium? Some people dont deserve the car's they own.
I bet if people damaged their engine due to using the wrong fuel, they'd cry to honda for a new engine.

the whole industry is a monopoly any ways its several companys working as a team (an access of evil or league of doom if you will) to run up the prices and proffit with no care as to how it will effect our economy. they say the prices of oil have gone up and that is why the price for gas has gone up but if they were both raised equaly you would see no change in there proffit so somewhere in there they are lying
and dont run 87 on a high compretion ratio car that isnt safe

Nothing will happen. The ECU is the car is more than capable of handling 87. You may lose a couple hp will running it but nothing bad with happen.
Your engine will not run right and you will probably get shitty gas mileage, A car tuned for premium will suck regular down like it's got a leak. Your car needs premium to perform normally, that is what it is tuned for. On a 13 gallon tank, you will only be saving MAYBE a couple of dollars per fill up. Not worth it IMO.
For real though, it's not that big of a deal to put premium in. I was worried about the costs when I first got mine, but even putting premium in, it still costs less to fill up, and I go further than my last vehicle. I usually just put in $20 a week and it keeps me going. A full tank is only like $25-30 right now on the SI.
(It says 13 gallon tank, but you cant put that much in it. I had one bar left on the guage and my light was on, and i could only put 11.5 gallons)

yeah, I work for ExxonMobil and he's totally right. Profit margins in the technology industry (people like Google, etc) are actually much higher than Exxon's. Besides, until to work for those kinds of companies, you'll never be able to understand how much it costs to keep them running. Also, did you know that the government is making about 50-60 cents off of each gallon in taxes alone. Sounds like there's some ignorance in your comment. You shouldn't believe everything you read. Instead, you should research your point and stop repeating chain emails that some idiot economist-wannabe came up with.
Answering the original question...fill up at any "name brand" station and always use premium 93+.

8300RPM at 11:1 compression.
That's all you really need to see and you should know that premium is about the only thing you can (and should) use.
Don't be a cheapass and cause potential damage to your motor. Yes your knock sensor will pick up on it, but that's only AFTER knock is occuring.
Buck up, use premium, and just avoid buying three 20oz bottles of Coke during the week. That's all you'll need to save the amount of money it'll take.

Perhaps someone from the oil industry can explain why gas is at least a nickel more expensive where I live than it is 3 miles down the road where the median income leve l is lower?
Gasoline is priced as high as the local market will bear. We need it and they have it, so they can rape everyone over a barrel for it and we are powerless to do a thing. It's simple profiteering. Exxon's CEO took home a $400 million bonus last year (according to NPR, not the internet); sort of hard to do that when operating as close to the break-even point that everyone in the oil industry claims.

Thanks for those that took my question seriously, unlike those that talk out of their asses, it was just a simple question that needed some support...ohh and socal only has 91 as its highest for those that are from the east coast.
