Default Long Shifters

Now that all of us know that the motor must be mounted solid for the shifter not to pop out of gear can there still be movement inside the tranny that could push the shifter out of gear? The only reason I ask this is due to the fact that my motor is solid mounted side to side front to back yet there is little movement in the shifter when I load the clutch. For those that have run a midplate do you still see slight movement in the shifter upon launch or burnout due to slack in the tranny?

I don't think it should move at all. Do you have pics of your mounts?

are you saying the load being put on the trans is causing the shifter to slightly "come out" of gear ??

we had solid mounts on our car as well. but after problems trying to get this sucker to hit gears, we scraped our tube mounts that we made, put OUR mid plate in, which is the way to go. so far we have ran our best time with the midplate installed. the engine cant move anywhere.

on our shifter mount, we have the shifter bolted to a plate, which has tubes @ about a 45 coming off the bottom of it, running down to the "oem frame rails" or whatever you want to call them. the rear mounting of the shifter is tied into the oem stock exh. hanger bars.

ill get more feedback from the driver after this weekend

All depends how the mounts are made. I've made plenty of tubular mounts to won't budge, but i've also seen plenty of "solid" motor mounts there weren't so solid...

The motor plate just makes it easy, but it's not doing anything a mount can't do.

true that. i completely understand where you are coming from. it was our 1st design. we are dealing with a beast that we've never delt with before.

the mounts we made really werent placed were they were most effective. IMO, they were tough, but not well placed.

3/4 .120 wall. budge that
