Simply put, the VTEC motors (B18C1 - GSR; B18C5 - Type R) have more horsepower that the non-vtec B18b1. So, given the chassis are nearly identical, the car with more power will win in a drag race, VTEC or not.

B18B1 - ~142 HP
B18C1 - ~170 HP
B18C5 - ~197 HP

In my opinion vtec is for street cars, the lower cam profiles allows for drivebility a (hope I spelled it right), and low end HP and the bigger cam profile allows the motor to obtain more HP as the RPMs increases, b/c the valves stay open longer

non-vtec is better for all. Just needs a different tranny.

um why do you think so? Im all for non vtec but (I have a b18b) but you got to admit, vtec is way better, its more efficient, gives more power, basically does everything better.

I <3 my nonvtec integra. I test drove a GSR and Type R before settling on my GS too. Honda did put more into their vtec motors (oil squirters and etc) and the integras that came w/vtec had a little more in them (strut bar, etc) so whatever.

Sometimes its about what you want and like,no neccesarily what is "best".

Because they are made for N1 endurance racing where vtec systems arent allowed.....but toda still runs the vtec head because the non-vtec cant flow for crap.
