Telling if car has original engine
I really searched but couldn't find much. Is there any way to tell if the car has the original motor in it or not. My 99 ex is suppose to have a d16y8 and it does (says so on the tranny) but is this d16y8 the one that came with the car? Is there a vin number on the engine or something that i can much up to something else to see? I'm having doubts that this engine has as many miles as the odometer says, plus since i'm the 6th owner of it now.
Carfax it mehbe? I dunno if carfax would have that type of thing.
My BMW friend had a guy search his vin and it had 10+ pages of stuff including his personal information, beyond carfax, but I dunno how to get that ****.

Already did a carfax and it was basic crap. Yes it tells you where the car came from, how many owners, any reported damage or what not, but that's it. The car had been hit in the front and up the driver side and it was not reported at all. I will give kudos though to whoever did the body work cause they did a damn good job.
Any other way of checking?
