Default Help understanding shifter

Ok so I'm going to do a tranny swap, I need to get everything included in the shifter: shiftplate, shifter, and cables. Once in awhile I'll see a shift plate and cables for sale on ebay, but then I think will I be missing a bunch of bolts and washers or can I just get a short shifter and hook it up. Its hard to phrase my question because I dont really know what is involved with installing the whole shifter assembly. Can someone please explain.

screw those bushings, they suck, just use any 12mm bolts and bolt the plate down securely

I used poly bushings and it made a huge difference... Also using 4bidden shifter.
