Taking the cable off wont affect anything but you will need to plug the open vacuum line. Leaving it open may cause some problems.

seems like a 5gen motor. I been wanting to this to my 6gen for years. When i bought my car my cruise control never worked, so pulled the swtich out and put a aftermarket one for my fog lights. If I remove the whole system, will it cause a CEL ?

nope. The system is linked to the ecu but not in a manner that will cause a cel. Just remember to plug the vacuum line and you'll be good. I'm not positive about the 6th gens, but on the 4th gens you need to cut the cable to get it out.

Actually you dont need to cut the cable. You just pull the cable connected to the back of the accelerator pedal and twist that plastic part in the firewall from inside the engine bay, take off the two 10 mm bolts and it should come right off. And yes you gotta plug up that vacuum line and dont forget to disconnect the plug.

I'm looking to do this too, for those of you that have done it, what did you use to plug the vacuum hole?

Anything. If it's a rubber line, find a bolt that will plug it. If it's a solid line find somethign that will cap it, or add a rubber line and a bolt.

kragen/autozone sell vaccum caps for like $3.00 for a pack, much more attractive than a vaccum line with a bolt/etc. stuck in it...

So i got a question for you, I got a 96 accord and have taken the cruize control out, the cable, plugges the lines back to the intake manifold which ran only to the cruize control module, am i suppose to leave the vacuum accumulater hooked to the vacuum lines still? It all started cause my cars idle would surge up to 1500 to 1000 even then lower to were it would want to stall or when i gave it a little gas it would like to bog out, even started back firing. So i replaced spark plugs, spark plug wires, hoses, fuel injectors, i replaced all the internal pieces of my dizzy, the intake manifold gaskets, throttle body and the gasket, the valve cover gasket, then swapped a identical top part of intake manifold that came with the throttle body i got off of a buddy, and all the codes my engine was throwing all went away, so i dont have any check engine lights on and my car starts and i can kinda drive it forward and backwards but its still idles slightly off as if theres a vacuum leak and ive gone over everything several times plus replaced hoses, and the only thing thats seems off to me is that theres a hissing noise as if its pulling in air when its not supposed to as its idling in park, i don't know if i gotta take the throttle body off and clean it again, maybe the butterfly valve isn't shutting all the way. Maybe i just didnt read the vacuum line diagram correctly and have them plugged in on the wrong spot for the evap and air/ fuel pressure. I'm stumped so if anyone could give me some advise or if has the same car toss a picture on here of the correct vacuum hose set up for all that, I'd be very appreciative of it
