Well Gents, last night I was racing 93ludesitec - and guess what happens.......my damn hood flew off.

Thats not the end of it though.

Just the CF flew off. Under the CF, there is a "shield-like" thing glued on. That part stayed on my car. The latch never came off, and the hinges didn't budge.

The only thing that came off was the carbon fiber. Luckily it didn't hit the windshield or anything.

Its kinda hard to explain what really happened. When 93ludesitec comes on, i'll let him explain what it looks like. I'll take some pictures, hell i'll take a video and post it to streetfire tonight or tomorrow morning.

The **** is crazy. So now, I need a fender(found a seller) AND a hood. I just bought a bumper two weeks ago.

Just the CF skin came off, so it wasn't an issue w/ the latch, or hood pins, it was just the skin? Very strange. Sorry about your luck man.

Yep. Just the ******* skin. i really didn't care much though. I still have the latch on my car You'll explain moer once i post up a video.

Thing about it - we weren't even going that fast. My speedo still doesn't work, so i couldn't tell you. I'll let him tell you, but we had to stop half way in the race. Couldn't have been going any faster than highway speeds. Glad it didn't come off on the highway - otherwise, a bad accident woulda occured. And it woulda been my fault.

 

Was it a VIS hood? I'm about to buy an ebay VIS hood.

 

they said it was a "VIS" hood. But i didn't see anything on the hood for proof.

Who's the ebay seller? Tell me, and i will recognize the name.

 

oh dang man, that sucks, yeah just tell us whenever you get the vid setup, cause I really want to see it! dang. that is why I don't buy ebay anymore!

sorry to hear that. its crazy to think just the skin came off. makes me wonder....ive had a few friends dive into the "cheap" ebay CF hood. ill ask them who sold them the VIS wanabe hood prolly same cat. the guy who sold to one my friends told him they didnt badge the hoods because of the high holiday rush....BS

 

if there wasnt a VIS badge by the latch then its not a VIS hood. So no worries about that.

Anyone could've told you not to buy an ebay CF hood....That's just common sense

 

Just one more GOOD reason for hoodpins eh? Sucks about the loss though.

 

VIS hood will have a VIS Badge and a SS# on it.

If you by a hood or any CF product off ebay ask to see close up pics of areas around the latch. If they can't give you pics or come up with reasons not to take more pictures don't buy it.

Move on to someone else. Also remember to look at thier feedback and don't buy things from people with little to no feedback.

You'll always come out on top that way.

 

did you have hoodpins? this is a prime example to those hoodpin haters why you need them.

sorry to hear it man. i know my stock hood vibrates pretty bad just going 80 can imagine what a hood made with crappy materials 1/4 of the weight and the same surface area was being tugged at. ebay impersonators must die

It was over $320 after shipping - can't remember the price. But shipping was the bulk.

I'm going with an OEM hood now. No more CF for me. Just gota find one.

I guess if i had hoodpins, it would have flown off like that, but damn it still shouldn't have done that. I"ll post the video a little later - i'm at work now.

 

You could get an OEM CF hood. Those look good and are good quality, fairly cheap too.

But that sucks man. Wouldn't that be something, just driving around and your carbon fiber sheet flies off!

I don't really know what you mean by OEM CF. If you mean no kind of scoops or anything - thats what i had.

 

that's shitty dude.. does the part still on your car have the glue they used to stick the cf on? start a new trend.. haha. but seriously.. that sucks...
