ya i just say that when i was searching and i went to check it. does it come out bc it looks like the censor will need a wrench to get off. i also saw somewhere that if its dirty then it wont work either and to use the brake cleaner. is this true?

According to the helms manual it could be any one of these things:

an opening in the wire
a poor ground
a blown #24 fuse in the under dash fusebox
a short to ground

or the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) could be bad altogether, but i doubt it is since it was working (im assuming) before you worked on the transmission

ok, just making sure it wasnt a pre-94 or that would definitely change things since i have the 94+ integra helms

im not sure where the ground is, i would trace the wire coming off the sender and see if it leads to any grounds, other than that im not sure

im beginning to wonder if maybe it was something that you didnt fix properly on the inside when reattaching the transmission

theres not electrical stuff inside. all i did was replace the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and piolet bearing. what could cause my speedometer not to work from all that?

i just read that there might be a broken pin in the connector. what does that mean and what does it look like?

the small little pin that spins inside the connector could have fallen out when you removed the vss its called the drive link connector.....take the vss off and check it...

do any of your other gauges work? either way check your fuse box under your dash. make sure all of the connecters are tight.

well i check the fuses and they are all fine. checked the vss and that little pin in the tip of it is still there. is that soppose to move? bc im not really sure. i also redid the wires that connect to the vss. and the gauges all work except the speedometer. thats why im pretty sure it has something to do with it. and how does the vss drive link connector accually work?

inside the transmission a gear on the outer housing of the differential spins the little vss gear which turns the drive link connector which sends a signal out to your speedo....

NOt to jack but if its the vss the speedo and the mileage will not work correct. neither of those work on my db8 and need to know what to replace cluster or vss

Bumping this thread back because I have the exact same problem as this guy. I swapped out the VSS and it's still not working properly.

The VSS is spun from a gear on the diff/final drive. It should be spinning when in gear, even if there are no axles.
The VSS works on 12 volt pulses, you should see pulses on the signal wire from the VSS when the diff is spun. The ECU/Speedometer counts the pulses per second and calculates the speed.
It's not that hard to wire up completely from scratch. You have ground, 12v, and VSS (signal). The signal wire is split between the speedo and the ECU somewhere in the dash.

When splicing in and hacking the VSS, do it before the ECU/Speedometer split.
