1500$ What to do?
I just recently came across about 1500$, I have an 88 crx si with a gen 1 b16 ys1 tranny w/ lsd
i want some ideas on what i can do in this price range to make the most of my money to make it quicker, it doesnt seem that fast right now, i bet it wouldnt even break into 14s, its completely stock except a CAI, stock suspension, wheels, exhaust , motor, everything .. i am definately getting a high flow cat or test pipe for sure, because i think the cat is going .. and it is running rich..
what can i do most efficiently with that amount of money?

oh , forgot to mention, i bought it from this guy that was totally clueless, he bought it with the swap already in it.. he didnt know what was done to it at all, it has cam gears and a fuel rail, with no fuel pressure regulater, so im thinking i definately need to get one..
it might have cams if it has cam gears, but from the looks of it, it was just for show

my goal is to get it to run low 14s, thats not crazytalk? .. it is equally fast as my friends stock ep3, ok maybe a little tiny bit faster..
it should be in the 14s anyway.. with me in it weighs 2120
supercharger is an excellent idea, i really need to check the health of my motor before i think about going FI though, because im not sure how healthy it is really..

you can put together a turbokit with good parts for $1500..
by the way if you cant hit 14s with that engine in that car theres something wrong,,wether it be driver or mechanicals....i hit low 14s all day on azenis tires with a bone stock b16a engine in a heavy *** 89 si,,and you have a 88..

what parts are good to build a kit for about 1,500. cuz i to want to get a turbo for my B16a....but i really dont know much about turbos...or what parts are good..for about that price... $1000 -$2000
changing to a 1.8L block what + work needed if any.
small set of cams ITR or CTR.
catback
decent header like spark racing.
That will make it better all around and better for later mods.

I try to do my own work, but in reality, i dont have teh mechanical skills to do most things. ive done small things like put on exhaust, and coilovers one time.. and thats about it that i can think of.. soo yes if its easy

probbly rule out the cams and 1.8L block then, sadly they would be the biggest gainers.
catback will be arpox 200-500.
while header is 500 i beilve shipped right now as well.
other 500 i'd put away untill you know what to do. I'd say set of rims or lower it.
A header like spark will have quick and good resale so even if you do go F/I it'll be a worth while upgrade for the time you still are n/a.

id fix any problems with your car first double check if not triple check then i would go exhaust header all the way back new . fuel pressure reg me personally i love curves i would fix the suspension and then with what ever left id upgrade brakes but thats just me nothing better than getting a good car running perfect

fuel management is free (bre or turboedit)
you can get dsm 450 injectors dirt cheap (~$50)
get a fuel pump from a dohc vtec car (-$50)
rebuilt garrett or turbonetics t3/t4 (~$350-$400)
cc-fab.net for manifold,downpipe..he stopped taking orders right now though cuz he has alot of orders and its only 1 guy..
any $30 blow off valve off ebay will do
for wastegates i only trust tial or turbosmart,,
for intercooler piping dirt cheap,, here http://store.racing-solutions.org/bendkits.html
ebay intercooler
then you'll need the miscalaneous fittings, oil lines, couplers, clamp, boost gauge,,,and you'll have to get the ecu tuned..

i know it should be able to.. it feels like it runs perfectly no codes , idle at 650 smooth as hell, cracks vtec, pulls hardest around 6k, but then power falls off alot after 7.5, it seems to decrease after 6700-7000 to redline
I dont think its the driving, me and my friend went quite a few times from a roll, i could pull on him at all we were dead even almost everytime, and that thing is probably high 15s at best...
im going to put on a test pipe as soon as it gets here and im hoping a bad cat is the culprit, i also need to find a FPR, used preferably.. if anyone has one pm me.

I realize you're wanting a faster car and all, but entertain this thought for a moment. Replace all your old and rotted suspension bushings if they aren't already. This wouldn't take all of the money you have saved up and you could do something else with the rest later.
Just think, a 88 car that drives and handles bumps in the road like new again. This is something I need to go but I just haven't got around to yet, My front end is soooo lose.

If you have to spend $$$
-dyno tune professionaly (get an adjustable FPR)
-fix rust/body damage
-replace suspension bushings
-replace faded trim/plastic parts

I must disagree with the bottom post as far as dyno tuning a stock b16a. there's almost no point in it. you're still going to have a potential high 13 second car. Get bolt ons and go from there with tuning and so forth.
Fix that rust though for sure.
