Default Debate?

what you guys think about the fact that when people ask a technical problem that is already existed/post in the past, others be telling you to press the RED SEARCH BUTTON?? is it nice to tell people to search or to be nice and answer their questions?

what would you guys do when this kind of situations occurs?

Usually I don't mind awnsering a question twice if it's not a FAQ. But every time I see "my car idles up and down SEARCHED" I die a little inside...

generally, if someone asks a question thats been covered before, I'll direct them to the search feature but I'll also try to help find a thread that talks about the question to not only help the person but to also show the search feature does help.

Sometimes though, people ask a question where if they would have just looked a few posts down or maybe even halfway down the first page they would have seen a thread just like they had just posted, that is a bit annoying.

in the end though... the search feature is there for a reason and some of us will use it like it's intended for but there will always be those who are to lazy to use it and do some work for themselves.

Exactly. If it gets asked often enough, I'll tell them to search. If I'm in a good mood I'll find one or 2 threads for them, along with telling them to search.

But I swear, if one more person asks how big of a wheel they can fit on their Accord... Oh, damn, wait... someone just did.

I don't usually mind too much, unless it's something about what engine they can swap or h22 vs. f22 turbo. I agree on the idle thing.

I don't really care about the multiple posts except for the ones already mentioned.

The questions that really get on my nerves is ones like "can I put a hemi in my 03 accord?" of "can I put an s2000 head on my motor, they are both f series?". You know the dumb *** common sense questions are the ones that really get to me.

For the people that say there is no such thing as a dumb question, they obviously have not surfed around the Accord side of Honda-Tech lately.

Yea and it seems like the further south you go on the main page the worse it gets! especially GDD and Kills
Kills is more like a band of kids trying to defend their territory on the playground.
That's why I hang out in Accord the most because it's the most mild mannered area in here. (untill I decide to vent on people that put seafoam in their oil)
The day it gets as bad as other forums I have seen will be the day I leave.

this forum works well because

1.) its a little smaller
2.) we have a number of members that really know what the expletive is going on when it comes to answering the harder quesions
3.) we have a devouted group of users who use the "report" button effectivley...that really helps to keep things clean.
4.) George Knighton does an excellent job of helping us out when Urbanlegend21 isnt around

And if you say something about a stupid questions that was posted. You'll get jumped, like I did. There were some people flaming me, that didnt even clue what was going on. Well they thought they did.
I'm supposevly raging people in every one of my posts.
I just thought it was pretty hilarious.
I have asked some questions that were already answered in the past. And I did get some good replys on them and some "do your research" deals.
My self I think its kind of rude to tell someone "search". Let someonelse reply to the thread, instead of you throwing a sarch button in his face. Its like asking your teacher for help and they tell "go find it yourself".
As funny as it sounds we are all teachers and students in here. So lets just get along and help the needy, unless there is a really really pathetic question involved.
Dont be hating!!!!!! LOL

But you have to understand, that is absolutely no point in us (as a forum) having to answer the same question every week or two. A two minute search could yield more results than he's ever going to need. If he's not willing to help himself, why should we?

I'm basically going to agree with everyone else here. If it's a common problem direct them to the search button, but if its a rarity, try to help out. Even though I'm a newb.

I will say though, if someone's asking for help, and you're not going to contribute to getting the guy the help he needs, don't post in the thread.

I see you point philadd. And I do agree with it. Ok, can we at least say "This has been covered in the past"
instead of "SEARCH!!!!".
Its like nailing someone in a face with a 2x4. lol

Speaking of that avatar... As much as I like the eyecandy, the mods won't approve of it. You should change it before they don't allow you to have an avatar at all.

one thing that I dis like the most is when you give the answer and the OP comes back with a smart assed remark
