Default Why is this person so convinced STD axels with work with a B16, anyone actually try it?

I posted this in my other thread, but i'm making another dedicated to just this, i'm wondering if anyone has actually tried their stock STD/HF Axels and failed, this person seems convincing that they've swapped no problem.

O16581724 5 2 5: The axels and shift linkage won't work i found out.
: yeah they will
O16581724 5 2 5: I was almost positive they wouldn;t.
O16581724 5 2 5: I posted up on Honda-Tech to check.
: ive worked on enough Hondas in my day t oknow
O16581724 5 2 5: I don't know, i'm real drunk ATM.
: what the hell?|

O16581724 5 2 5: They're telling me on H-T it won't work with stock axels and shift linkages. =\
: well they lied to you
: come over and ill prove it
: tell whoever told you that its pretty sad that a GIRL knows more then them about Hondas

If STD axels won't work, what is the reason?

my ZC tranny used 90-93 teg axles, and I put a std. axle in there and the shaft was WAY too small. It was not even close.

NO IT WILL NOT WORK AND THATS THE BOTTOM LINE. There is no reason to argue this matter. There is not a single doubt in my mind that 88-91 STD or Si axles will not work with a b-series engine. The b-series engines use a mid-shaft and the STD or Si uses one long axle. If this dumb *** girl wants to believe that they will work, then let her.

A STD is a DX. What are you talking about?

suure it is..

in a crx maybe.. CRX DX (aka Std).

but not for a civic.

Civic Std = 4spd crap
Civic DX = 5spd less crap

and every1 here is right the D-series axles for our USDM cars are too small for the bseries diff.

Let me ask you this. When is the last time you looked at the Models for civic/crx's??? There are Si, HF, and DX. I dont think I ever heard of a STD. when people say STD they are refering to DX's

yo the splines are different, I swaped a b series into a dx (standard) the dx is considered the the std......the only hubs that will work for a zc swap or b series swap is si ones.......I had to get integra hubs for the swap.........

whoever says they knew **** about anything and that STD axels will work with a b16 is dumber than what I flush down the toilet.....there is a reason why people =put SI knuckels on there STDs when switching to a b16 or even a d16 the spline counts are different......

for civic hatch there is si,dx,and std..std being the lowest one that comes 4spd manual and vinyl seats,,no passenger side mirror standard,etc...

and then for crx its si,hf,std...but most people refer to and know the std crx as a dx,,but if you look in manuals for our cars or brochures or whatever its says std crx..

and i dont know why that person thinks the stock d-series linkage and axles will work for the b-series swap...??????

They're also selling a B16 with transmission, ECU, and harness for $300, so i'll let them continue being stupid.

Unless they're somehow confusing a B16 with a D16?

yeah thats possible, its happens all the time...because a complete b16a swap for $300 is pretty unreal,, even the stolen b16 swaps here in NJ go for around $700 complete...better confirm the engine.

They said "B16A", it's in a totaled 97 Hatchback. Even if it's a D16 VTEC, it's a good deal for $300 with ECU, harness, Engine and Tranny.

STD has no badge, black finish piece between the lights, vinyl interior, no carpet in the door panels, nothing around the shifter, no hubcaps, 70hp, smaller axles(?). Quite a bit seperates it from the DX...

Whether it was a Civic STD or CRX DX,The axles won't work..

You may be able to shove them into the transmission,
But that doesn't mean they will drive the car..

On the left a DX passenger side axle that came from my car,
On the right an Integra axle that came with my swap.

Measurements are width of race and splined drive area;

Axles on the outsides are stock CRX DX,Inside two axles came with B16:

On the linkage,the ends are different,as well as the length of both rods;
Stock on top,B16/Integra style below it:

B16 linkage is on the outsides, 2 Stock linkages in the middle:

^not true , i have one of each (std and dx) the std has a 4spd, no rear wiper, no intermittant wipers, no tilt column, no ac, no rear washer squirter, there IS a big difference, on my title one says civic DX and one says STD

I always thought that when people said STD they were refering to their DX. Its not that big of a ******* deal.

No its no BFD, but I spent about a year finding a mint 91 STD just to save 55 pounds over a DX before even gutting it.

The one thing I envy from DX/Si's are the stronger drivelines & 5 speed trannies, but I like not having a rear wiper, badging, a sunroof, P/S etc without ripping **** apart.

Now just to build my swaybar-less suspension...
