You can get the KYB AGX off ebay for under $300. I buy parts off ebay all the time without any problems. Do you want to be able to adjust the height of your car? Then get coilovers if not get springs. Smooth and stiff ride for the streets? Not happening. If you have a stiff suspension then you will feel every bump in the rode. A good combination for you would be the AGX and Eibach sportlines.

Okay, I just want to inform you here. Shocks and struts are two different versions of the same thing (dampers). Your 91 (all 88-00) Civic have shocks only. The 01+ Civic & RSX have struts in the front & shocks in the back.

As for your situation: If you know exactly how much you want lower your car, you would do best to buy good lifetime warranty performance shocks (illumina, koni-sport) and good quality lowering springs (Eiabach, Neuspeed, H&R). If you don't know how low you want to go, you may want to spend a little extra for quality height adjustable coil-over sleeves (ground-control).

Now keep in mind these things are expensive, but their quality will surely out-last the "full coil-overs" that so many companies are marketing now. You cannot get a lifetime warranty on those things, so I can't see spending my hard earned money on them...

PS: Only buy off of eBay if your getting a brand-name product from an autorized dealer. Otherwise your warranty will not be valid...

you can find plenty of good prices on ebay, just make sure to get the brand name good stuff like tokico, tein, koni, etc. and if the price seems too good to be true it probally is.
