Default MY CAR LAGGED

was driving home tonight I was in fifth gear rpm was at 2800 going 60mph and I
was getting ready to exit and my car lagged. So I try to down shift and rpm about 4000 and quickly drops to 2800. then I downshifted to third gear the rpm dropped quickly to 2800 again. so I turned my hazard lights on and pulled over to the shoulder and my car died. so I tried to start it again won’t start. then I turned off my radio took off the face plate so there’s no power to the stereo. try to start it when it stereo head unit was off. won't start. tried it again it started. when it started I gunned it in first second and third gear so just incase it died on me again I will still be able to make it home.

What kind of problem do you think it would be?

yea and my car interior lights dimmed when this was happening.

thank you for the help

I agree about the gas I would check that first, then dizzy. My car drops to low revvs like crazy when she's running out of gas doesn't even have to be completely flat lined empty to start sputtering.

it could just be your rotor in the dizzy...may not need to swap the whole dizzy. this happened to me on the freeway too, and my rotor was all loose when i opend the dizzy cap.

yea swapped the dizzy today. still didnot work. I basically had to keep the key turned all the way in order to drive it. then I bypass it with my uncles help its worked I hooked it up to a switch and i was at a stop light and it died. so I had to keep the key turned all the way in oreder to drive it. drove about 2 miles when the car died. so I am really stumped.

The clutch will make that happen to, I would seriously check that out because it happened in my CRX and my padding was gone. Although it was the OEM clutch.

Try this it sounds like it might help but I don't know.

If you have to hold in the key it might have some thing to do with the ignition switch, or the cutting out might be unrelated and might have something to do with the main relay but I would look at the ignition switch first.

true my cars clutch needs to be changed soon. but i'm swapping a b18a into it with a 10.6:1-10.7:1 compression. so I could care less about the clutch. the b18 i bought a stage 2 clutch for it and headers.

I see that you figured it out.....but my motorcycle was doing the same thing, and would start after letting it cool down again....it turned out to be the spark plugs....Just FYI for you guys...and a good thing to check!
