ok i am buying a new transmission i did a search for it and i was a little confused on what i found. the number in the casing of the trans i am about to buy is
s40-1102387. i was wondering exactly what trans this is from because it seemed to me like it was the d16y8, but in another thread i found i thought it was from a DX.... not sure any info would help trying to get this done ASAP

your looking at the wrong numbers, s40 is merly saying its off an EK civic (im pretty sure thats it)
look at where the passenger side axle plugs in, now look above it, youll see that theres a circle thats sticking out with a slash in the middle, on one hemisphere itll say P4k (or P something) and if the other hemisphere reads B000 its an EX if its a A000 its a DX, somone correct me on the DX but i have a y8 tranny and thats exactly what it reads. P4k on one side of the slash in the middle and B000 on the other.
i have a eg dx tranny as well and it reads P20 and A000... so thats what gets me to think the Ek's with A000 are also DX's

correct w/ the exception that A000 can be any tranny except the y8. could be lx/hx/dx etc.
