Default just finished my (rywire) obd-1 conversion, why wont car start?

as the title says i just finished up my obd-1 conversion (it is a rywire harness...so wiring shouldnt be an issue) but for some reason my car still wont crank, here's the info i have right now:

-'90 crx dx
-d16z6 with cable si tranny
-p28 ecu
- dpfi-->mpfi-->obd-1 conversion harness made by rywire
- homemade ecu jumper harness (looks like crap, but inspected by rywire)

1) my battery is charged (12.5+ volts)
2) i have fuel (checked at fuel rail (injectors))
3) when i tried to crank the motor the rpm's (on tach, not motor) went to 1k

now every thing i can think of is hooked up/plugged in, so please give me some advice on what to look for next (im stumped)

Did you do the required wiring at the ecu? You still need to do a little wiring at the ecu even with any conversion in a DX.

Other than the jumper harness, and the wiring from rywire, you are suppose to depin/repin a few wires at your stock ecu plugs. That needs to be done, or else you will never start the car.

ok the car did crank this time, but still hasnt turn'd over......what happened was: i tried to start the car and it almost turned over(well sounded like it would) then after a few times the battery sounded like it was gonna die(battery is still at 12.5 volts) now i also noticed on my gauge cluster: when i tuen the <U>key on</U> the rpm line goe's to 1k (with engine off) and the c.e.l,oil press.,brake, battery, and hatch lights come on the cluster.....even when all the doors are shut. as for the cel light: i grounded wire d4 (ryan @rywire said too) on my jumper harness, but it doesnt seem to work(no codes flash) so please if you have advice let me know

Not to thread jack but I am having the same problem with my swap. I have a 91 hf which now has a Z6 and a P28. I have a Ebay harness and a Rywire Vtec subharness.

What are these pins that you have to repin on the ECU, I haven't heard of that yet.

You have an HF, so you don't have to repin anything. With the DX's you need to repin a few wires.

OP, did you get instructions with your harness?

My advice is to call rywire back. They're well known for helping their customers out after the sale.

Ok, I made this guys harness, and he cant afford to buy our tried and tested ecu jumper, so I did my best with the hack that he sent me... I made it plug and play so he didnt have to do ANYTHING. Just plug the thing in.

You gotta tell us what you dont have man... spark? fuel? what is it? help us help u.

Sorry, but it just aggravates me when I see rywire and car wont start in the heading.... especially when you send me a hack of a ecu jumper to work with, and you keep changing your interior harness from dx and si expecting it to work.

I hear ya .

Judging by your gauge cluster woes, it almost sounds as if it might be a ground problem. If the motor wont even crank, check the battery ground as well as the tranny to frame ground, then make sure you are getting voltage at the small terminal on the starter while the key is in the "start" position. Getting the motor to actually crank is the very first thing to solve here.

Also i did mention that the car does have fuel (im still not sure about spark) it is throwin a code. I did ground d4 but i still cant check codes, also b19 does have the green/red wire you told me too check on

Default Re: just finished my (hatchinprogress)

check for spark, ground the spark plug on a valve cover bolt and see if there is spark when you crank. If you ground the scs wire, and there is no code flashing then there is a problem...

if you have no codes.... cel light should have normal operation when d4 is not grounded, and solid cel if grounded.

sounds like a ground issue someplace... also, your gauge cluster dosent match your harness, so no wonder nothing works... think about it, the wires for ecu check light isnt even in the same place(possibly)
