Any1 Have the Maintenance Schedule+Checklist for the 3rd Gen NON-Vtec Tegs?? +TimingBelt ?
Posted this in the Integra section yesterday but didn't get any bites/replies at all.
Can someone help me out?? I'd appreciate it.
Hey all,
Can someone please post the maintenance schedule+checklist for the 3rd gen NON-Vtec Integras? My sister's beater 94 LS just turned 80k miles (yeah, she doesn't drive it much), and I wanna see what things I can do on my own, and what I have to send her car out to the shop to do.
Also, when is it recommended to change the timing belt? I'm thinking right about now, esp since there's 80k on it, and the car is 12 years old, but just wanna know the official t-belt interval for future reference.
Thanks in advance!
btw, if someone knows of a good independent Honda/Acura shop in the SF Bay Area, CA, that does quality work for less than rape dealer prices, I'd appreciate it.

might as well do timing belt/water pump etc now, it is usually done around 90k. also, do a full tune up, maybe valve adjustment, alignment while you are at it, rotate tires, you should be good to go.

if its not broke, but the time is due, fix it before it breaks.

I am assuming the car has never been touched in terms of maintenance besides maybe an air filter change and an oil change, so to be on the safe side:
By 90k miles, I would do:
Timing belt, water pump, alt belt, ps belt, a/c belt (don't need a new tensioner yet I would bet)
sparkplugs (get her platinum, so she doesn't have to remember to do anything for another 60,000 miles)
distributor cap and rotor
fuel filter
brake fluid flush and fill
transmission fluid
valve adjustment
tire rotation, alignment, balancing
new air filter
if it's a 5spd, drain and fill the clutch fluid as well
coolant flush and fill
check out her brakes for wear
check her cv joints
oil and filter change
that's all I can think of off of the top of my head. You can look at the Helms at Redpepperracing.com and see the maintenance schedule.

car has been maintained fairly well, including all scheduled maint. intervals up to 60k (missed the 75k tho). i used to have the work done by a mutual friend back, who is an ASE Master Tech for a H-dealer in the LA area, but my sis and the car are no longer down there.
anyways, thanks for the info. I'll check the main schedule at the site you mentioned and take care of whatever I can myself and have the rest done by a shop.

If it had it's 60k mile service, then you can trim the list to:
Timing belt, water pump, alt belt, ps belt, a/c belt (don't need a new tensioner yet I would bet)
brake fluid flush and fill
transmission fluid
valve adjustment
tire rotation, alignment, balancing
new air filter
coolant flush and fill
check out her brakes for wear
check her cv joints
oil and filter change
All of those things deserve some attention after 30k miles, and the tbelt/wp is every 90k.

I noticed some of you mentioned changing the water pump, are they really not that durable and require changing every 100k miles or is it just a precaution. only reason i ask is because I've racked up 200k miles on my 95 tahoe and the water pump has never had any problems. my 94 ls is at 140k, should I get my h20 pump replaced?

I haven't changed mine on my current engine(80k), and my older engine had around 150k and didn't change it,
unless the previous owner did, I got the car when it had 115k.
Sometimes they corrode a little, and it's good to replace them, But if it's still working for the time being,
and you happen to be doing something in the near future in that area, just wait til that time and change it.

If you're going to be doing some of the work yourself, then you really ought to get the service manual. You can buy one here. There's one '94 service manual for all models of Integra. The maintenance schedule is the same for all models; however, there are two sections in it for changing the timing belt, one for the LS/RS and the other for the GS-R.
Incidentally, one item that is not listed in the service manual, but is also a good idea for preventive maintenance, is to replace the cooling system hoses. These can (and do) eventually fail over time, and if they're 12 years old, I would replace them. (Basically, the timing belt interval is suitably long for doing this on an ongoing basis, and it's a good way to remember when you did them.) Note too that there are some savings to doing them at the same as the timing belt and water pump, since you'll be accessing the hoses to the water pump and also you will (or, should) be replacing the coolant as part of either procedure.

The recommended interval is 90K miles or six years, whichever comes first.

Don's Hilltop Auto Service in Daly City, just south of the city. Highly recommended.

The reason for replacing it at that interval is not that all that many water pumps fail after that point. Rather, it's because a few of them do, but if it does fail, you have to do all the same labor to replace it as you do to change the timing belt. So as long as you're going to go through all that work to get to the timing belt, it's a good idea to replace the water pump at the same time, to avoid having to do it all over again in the event of a water pump failure.
