Default 92 civic ECU upgrade

Hey guys, I need some help...my ecu in my 92 civic lx just went out and I was wondering where I could find an upgraded computer, and what computers would actually work. Any help would be much appreciated and would get me back on the road quick, thanks.

If its all stock, just get another stock one (PO6 I'm guessing). No point in getting a chipped one that'll just dump more fuel.

But will I get more horsepower? And if I'm planing on more should I get a new one now or is it just not worth it?

buying a new one from honda would be $400+
used you can pick them up for $50 or so.

and yes the LX is the P06.

what happened that your ECU went out on you? they are typically really hard to destroy.

BTW "upgraded" ECU is a bad term to use. To create a custom set of fuel/ignition maps that are tunable means chipping your ECU with a program like Crome, Uberdata or Hondata.

Aftermarket ECUs are like the AEM unit that cost significantly more with very few additional features.

Chipping your ECU and having it tuned is not really worth it unless you have aftermarket cams or raised compression. (swap is different) Simple bolts ons run fine with the stock maps. You may get +5hp out of a chip from ebay but you may also get -10hp out of it. Plus your mpg will drop significantly, hardly worth it.
