B16A Tune Up ( Help )
Hi folks,
I'm new to this forum although i have owned lots and lots of honda's in the past i just need a little advice from knowledgable people like yourselves. I have a 1998 Honda civic VTi (Uk) with the B16a engine producing as standard 158bhp if i'm correct.
Currently i'm running a DC Sports Cold air intake system, a Dastek unichip and a Powerflow De-Cat exhaust. Howver i still want more. I'm thinking of going down the route of cams as i dont really want to turbo it or supercharge it N/A is more fun! lol I drive the car about 2-3 times a week. My question is to you guys is what would you suggest i do to my engine to get healthy power outputs and increased performance. Money really isnt a problem. I was thinking Cams, Valves etc.
Can anyone point me in the right direction so i can finally get something done.
Kind regards

It all depends on your intrepretation of what a "healty" bump in power is.
Assuming you go with a run of the mill stage 2 cam, you're looking at about 10hp to the wheels. Some ($$$) headwork will get you more, but don't expect a world of difference without doing some extensive rebuilding. If you raise the compression, and do headwork you'll see decent gains. Unfortunately, for the price of that you might as well go with FI.
You could always build a 1.8L block on the side and bolt your current head on to that (LS/Vtec).
