yeah id just clean em off real good, scuff em up with some sandpaper, and paint em with duplicolor wheel paint. Comes out really good actually, just gotta take time.
any suggestions for wheels that were clearcoated? i picked some up from the yard, off of a 91 prelude, and the clearcoating is coming off in the middle and there are these spots that look like rust (its not but.. ) on them. i am afraid to try wheel cleaner because i dont want it to mess up the clearcoating or make it worse, but pressure washing them also didnt take the rust colored spots off. ive been thinking about taking them to a machine shop to see how much they would charge to hot tank them.. but i dont want that to mess up the metal either. any ideas?

Sandblast and repaint, or polish. If you are a college student, chances are you have a sandblaster available to you. If not, find a local college kid who wants to make a few bucks, you'll both get a deal. Community colleges usually have sandblasters because they offer more vocational type of majors like automotive stuff.
