odometer swap into new cluster
Searched, and found absolutely zero results... I have a JDM gauge cluster (a.k.a. all in km/h), which means the odometer is also in kilometers. I took out the original odometer from the US CX cluster. I'm wondering if the circuitry for the actual distance calculation is in the odometer itself, or if it's on the cluster side. I want to put my original odometer in the JDM cluster, so that the mileage actually reflects that of the car. I'm afraid tho that the odometer might start counting km instead of miles though.. does anyoen have a definitive answer to this, or should I just go try it and see if it counts miles or km? thanks h-t.
I do believe the distance traveled is measured by the vehicle speed sensor. Not the cluster. Unless the gears on the ends of the two odometers are different, you should not have a problem
Awesome, thanks! hopefully it works, I guess maybe this weekend I'll take apart my JDM one and swap the odometers and take it for a test drive, and see if it's accurate.. I'll let everyone know if it works... that is if anyone else out there even wants to know
If you put the CX speedo into your cluster, it will look funny and will read in MPH. If you swap the CX odo with the SiR face, the odo will read in MPH, but your speedo will be off as it's not aligned with the tick marks. The distance traveled is recorded by the speedo circuit on the gauge itself. It has to do with resistances in the circuit that determine if the speedo/odo reads in MPH or KPH.

Does anyone know how to alter the mileage of a jdm cluster to match the mileage your stock cluster h
