Offset and custom fender work-- I want to run a wheel with a stupid low offset
Hi Honda Tech--I need feedback on a possible decision I will be making for the future of my 94 coupe. I come from the VW scene, where RWD widths and offsets are normal on our FWD cars. I was wondering if I could pull this off on my Honda, so here's my case...
The wheels in question are fit for a Corolla (AE86) and therefore are 15x8, ET 0
Working from what many people on this board run (15x6.5 ET 40ish) I used the offset calculator to determine that the change between wheels would leave me with a wheel that sticks out an additional 59mm compared to the sheep wheels. I then went outside and measured the fenders (stock) and it looks as if a 2 in extension would be needed.
One of the ways I could achieve this would be to pull and smooth the fenders (I will be shaving the side rub strip anyway). Without the vertical lip on the outside of the fenders, I could probably pull this off with 195/45/15 tires all around.
My question is, has ET 0 ever been done before (keep in mind that its an 8 in wide wheel)? Any AE86 wheels on a Honda before? Pics? Feedback? Thanks guys.

</TD></TR></TABLE> the width of those tires on a 8" wide rim....
you may wish to ask this in wheels/tire as well if not already.

The AE86 wheels are 4x114 while your stock civic wheels are 4x100.
You'll have to do a 4x114 brake conversion.
I've seen some threads on some of the VIP boards about guys rolling and stretching fenders.
Im sure it can be done, but it looks like alot of work.

That gives it the stretched look, which is really in right now in the VW world.

Sorry I didn't specify--the wheels are 4x100. I also realize that this fitment would require a lot of work, but I still think it might be worth my time. I really don't think its ever been done before, if I was to sucessfully pull it off it would be truly original.
As far as how an 8 inch wide wheel would look, I see nothing wrong with a wider wheel. As a general rule, you want to run a 9 inch or wider wheel on most VWs for a "down and out" look with an offset usually between 10 and 30 mm. I don't see why it wouldn't work on a Honda, too.

Your cars gonna look like a skateboard. It may be a big thing in the veedub world, but in the honda world most enthuasists are going to think it's looks stupid. It's your car mod how you like.
just my .02 cents

I used to run 195/50-15s in some 15x7s and damn, those tires were streched imo
I can't even imagine 195/45s, since there's less sidewall to use to stretch. If anything, the sealing won't be very good at all.
